Stop angry acne in it’s tracks with our guide to concealing and colour correction…

Acne can really affect your confidence, but don’t worry, we have some really useful tips for you on concealing your acne if you would like to.

Acne (which is more than the occasional spot or blemish) often presents with very purple or bluish undertones to the raised areas. Acne is a medical condition and so if you think you may have it then visit your doctor or a qualified dermatologist for a diagnosis.

If you do have the typical bluish or purple undertones to your acne, then you need to use the right form of colour correction (you can watch the explanation of using the colour wheel for colour correction video here*). These ‘traumatised’ areas of skin need an antidote and that is a PEACH shade. We don’t advise you use a beige shade, as that will make your skin look grey and shadowy.

A peachy shade of concealer applied over the middle of the area first will help to warm up your skin tone. Choose a shade that isn’t too light as this will only highlight the area you want to correct.

Dot into the middle of the blemished area and smooth out, either with a make up brush (wash regularly in warm soapy water) or clean fingertips. A rolling or patting motion can sometimes be useful here.

Don’t feel you need to cover every inch of your skin, sometimes just correcting key areas with a warm peach toned concealer can give you confidence. If you have limited areas of acne and some redness, then try applying a super fine layer of ReCover Correct & Conceal Red to even out your skin, then pat acne areas with a peach toned concealer to ‘warm’ the tone of the skin.
